Spring Color Can be Seen – Outdoor Safety and Rules
Welcome to Compass Spring Outdoor School!
This class aimed to engage students in fun and interactive activities that helped them learn about the rules of outdoor school and how to stay safe in nature. Our objective was to encourage the students to focus on their sense of sight, by looking closely at things both up close and far away, and to observe the colors and seasonal changes that came with spring.

Easter Special - Hoppy Easter
Easter is joyful and exhilarating holiday that provided lots of opportunities for outdoor adventures! In that special Easter class, we relished the thrill of Easter egg hunt and forged new friendships with adorable bunnies. Our aim was to acquaint ourselves with the distinguishing traits of bunnies, revisit the diverse colors we had learned, and foster socialization and physical activity through various Easter-themed games and dances.

Tasting the Rainbow: Exploring the Senses of Taste
Have you ever wondered which plants grow on a farm and how they taste? Moreover, have you ever pondered what essential elements plants require to thrive? This exciting farm adventure where we will not only comprehend the needs of plants for growth but also discern and savor the distinct flavors of various plants. Through this experience, students will gain a better understanding of the plant kingdom and explore their sense of taste.

Touch the magic tree: Exploring the Senses of Touch
In this lesson, students will engage their sense of touch and gain a deeper appreciation for nature by examining the texture imprints of playdough on trees and other elements. And also explore the diverse parts of a tree and their distinct features. Additionally, students will hone their ability to use descriptive language and unleash their creativity, making for an immersive and enriching learning experience.

Smell of the forest: Exploring the Senses of smell
The lesson aims to introduce students to the sense of smell using smell bottles and encourage them to explore their surroundings using sense of smell. Students will also be encouraged to think about the flowers they find on their way and introduced the different parts and importance of the flowers.

Forest concert: Exploring the Senses of Hearing
Our final lesson on the five senses as we explore the unique sounds of nature and create a mesmerizing concert for the tiny friends from forest. Using our creativity to make our instruments using the loose bits and pieces found in the forest. It’s time to discover the enchanting sounds of nature and create a musical paradise!

The Singing birds
In this lesson, students will learn about the different physical traits and unique vocalizations of various forest birds. Through hands-on activities, students will engage their five senses and explore the beauty of nature. Additionally, this lesson aims to teach children about the dedication and hard work of mothers, as demonstrated by bird mothers who provide loving care and nourishment to their young.

The Brave Little Eagle
This lesson plan aims to introduce children to eagles and their natural habitat, encouraging them to observe the behavior and features of these majestic birds. Additionally, it seeks to foster an understanding of the importance of the relationship between human activities and nature by sharing the story of the artificial eagle nest on Locarno beach.

A Tale of Waterbirds
In this lesson, we will be exploring the physical characteristics and behaviors of different types of waterbirds. Through observing their natural habitat, students will have the opportunity to learn about their habits, and how they interact with the environment around them. As we explore the coastal environment, students will develop responsible behaviors and a deeper appreciation for the beauty and importance of nature, and help protect its wildlife.

Water Can be…
This lesson plan aims to introduce students to the different types of water bodies, including their characteristics and the various plants and animals that live in them. Through exploration and observation, students will engage their five senses to gain a deeper understanding of each water body. By the end of the lesson, students will have a better understanding of the importance of water bodies and the diverse life they sustain.

How big is the ocean?
This lesson introduces the concept of the ocean and its vastness, as well as to teach students about the different creatures that can be found on the beach. The activities aim to engage the students in hands-on learning experiences and encourage them to observe the ocean habitat using their 5 senses. Finally, students will learn about the concepts of sinking and floating

Where Does the Water Go?
If you pour water into the sand on the beach it disappears. Where does it go? This lesson we will explore the disappearance of water in sand and understand how it drains into tiny particles. After we get familiar with our building material, students will explore the science and engineering behind building a sandcastle, such as the best sand consistency and the amount of water needed.

Term Recap
After a term’s learning of "Five Senses", Bird Watching" and "Water Inquiry", our physical strength, observation skills, logical thinking, and sense of cooperation have been systematically exercised and enhanced. Goodbye Spring, Hello Summer!
