Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring – Safety and Rules
Welcome to Compass Spring Outdoor School!
In the outdoor class, students participated in a safety walk, played games, collected and graphed natural objects, went on a spring scavenger hunt, and danced to springtime music. The class ended with a reflection and a review of the day's lessons. Through these activities, students learned about the environment, developed their curiosity, and had a memorable spring experience.

Easter Special - Hoppy Easter
In this Easter class, we explored the great outdoors and engaged in a variety of exciting activities that celebrated the holiday season. From an adventurous egg hunt to building burrows, students learned about the distinguishing traits of bunnies and appreciated the environment around them. Through Easter-themed games and dances, such as the Egg Hop Relay Race and Bunny Hokey Pokey, we promoted socialization and physical activity. With a focus on curiosity, adventure, safety, and respect, students left with a greater appreciation for nature and a memorable Easter experience.

What plants need to grow?
How do the different features of plants help them meet their basic needs? What’s the lifecycle of a plant? Let's embark on an exhilarating farm adventure where we explore the fundamental elements that plants need to thrive. During this journey, we will not only gain a deep understanding of the growth requirements of plants, but also have the opportunity to discover and savor the unique flavors offered by different plant varieties.

Touch the magic tree: Exploring the Senses of Touch
In this lesson, students will engage their sense of touch and gain a deeper appreciation for nature by examining the texture imprints of playdough on trees and other elements. And also explore the diverse parts of a tree and their distinct features. Additionally, students will hone their ability to use descriptive language and unleash their creativity, making for an immersive and enriching learning experience.

Smell of the forest: Exploring the Senses of smell
The lesson aims to introduce students to the sense of smell using smell bottles and encourage them to explore their surroundings using sense of smell. Students will also be encouraged to think about the flowers they find on their way and introduced the different parts and importance of the flowers.
Forest concert: Exploring the Senses of Hearing
Our final lesson on the five senses as we explore the unique sounds of nature and create a mesmerizing concert for the tiny friends from forest. Using our creativity to make our instruments using the loose bits and pieces found in the forest. It’s time to discover the enchanting sounds of nature and create a musical paradise!

The Singing birds
In this lesson, students will learn about the different physical traits and unique vocalizations of various forest birds. Through hands-on activities, students will engage their five senses and explore the beauty of nature. Additionally, this lesson aims to teach children about the dedication and hard work of mothers, as demonstrated by bird mothers who provide loving care and nourishment to their young.

Eagle Eyes
This lesson plan aims to familiarize children with eagles and their natural habitat while promoting observation of these magnificent birds' behavior and characteristics. Moreover, it seeks to cultivate an appreciation for the interdependence between human activities and the environment through the story of the man-made eagle nest on Locarno beach.

A Tale of Waterbirds
We get to explore the fascinating world of water birds and the dynamics between crabs and seagulls while learning about beach conservation. We learn about different water bird species, their physical characteristics, and behaviors, followed by an exciting opportunity to observe water birds in their natural habitat. The second activity involves a game where children role-play as crabs and seagulls, collecting food and water while understanding the challenges faced by these animals. The activities conclude with meaningful discussions on beach conservation, emphasizing the importance of keeping the beach clean and protecting the diverse wildlife that relies on these habitats.

Where does it flow
This lesson aims to familiarize students with different types of water bodies, emphasizing their unique characteristics and the diverse array of plants and animals that inhabit them. Through hands-on exploration and observation, students will actively engage their five senses to develop a deeper understanding of each water body. By the conclusion of the lesson, students will recognize the significance of water bodies and the vital ecosystems they support.

Ocean Habitat
This lesson aims to introduce students to the ocean and its expansive nature while teaching them about the diverse range of creatures found on the beach. Through engaging hands-on activities, students will have the opportunity to observe the ocean habitat using their five senses. Additionally, the lesson will cover the concept of sinking and floating.

Crab habitat
In this class, students focused on habitats and living things. We explored different habitats through reading books and playing a game that matched animals to their respective habitats. We distinguished between living and non-living things and creating an ocean habitat for a stuffed animal or crab shell. These activities fostered critical thinking, observation, and teamwork, while deepening students' understanding of habitats and the needs of living things.

Term Recap
After a term’s learning of "Features’ of Plants", Bird Watching" and "Water Inquiry", our physical strength, observation skills, logical thinking, and sense of cooperation have been systematically exercised and enhanced. Goodbye Spring, Hello Summer!
